The Port Augusta Children’s Centre has been nominated in two categories in the 2019 South Australian Public Education Awards.

This year judges had to select 30 finalists from almost 2000 nominations from across the state for the 10 awards up for grabs.

The centre’s ‘Way to Play’ program has made the top three in the Community Engagement Award category, while one of the staff members, Rachel Amos, was nominated for the Aunty Josie Agius Award.

The ‘Way to Play’ program is a radio show hosted by the kids with sing-a-longs and stories, while Rachel was nominated for her ‘Out and About Playgroup’ designed to help Aboriginal kids transition into preschool.

Each award winner will receive $10,000 while the remaining 20 receive $2,000 for continued growth, the winners will be announced at a ceremony in Adelaide in October.
