South Australia has greeted almost seven million visitors according to the latest annual National Visitor Survey taken in March, up seven percent from the previous year.
The visitors sure know how to spend their money as well, the data showing the festival states tourism income rising to a record high.
Those travelling from within Australia reportedly spent over $6 billion while tourists from abroad spent around $1 billion.
Port Augusta Mayor Brett Benbow says the weather and scenic views might play a factor in the tourism jump.
“I think it’s just that time of year, we’ve got the exclusive weather that’s nice and cool, and most people enjoy going out to the Flinders Ranges also sightseeing around our areas, particularly the Arid Lands Botanic Gardens this time of year is pretty popular,” he siad.
