SA Police and the Department for Child Protection has teamed up in an attempt to get Whyalla youths sent on an Operation Flinders deployment.
The campaign is aimed at ten at-risk adolescents and recently gained a $1000 donation from the local Neighbourhood Watch group.
Ben Williams presented the cheque to SAPOL Operations Inspector Mark Hubbard and DCP Whyalla Manager Jenny Knight at an event last week.
Mr Williams said he’s seen Operation Flinders work in the past and wants it to continue.
"It's great to work with SAPOL on this, I hope the kids do get a lot out of it," he said.
Ms Knight said this money will help her team get the campaign to a more sustainable level.
"Hopefully we can build something that's sustainable, because those kids will come back and become leaders in our community," she said.
SAPOL are looking for $16,500 for the deployment early next year.
