One of the two water tanks in Whyalla has been completely drained as SA Water begin maintenance on the container.
In a planned execution, SA Water allowed the tank to reach a low level, before pumping the rest into another tank that remains online.
Approximately 50 contractors will work on concrete rehabilitation, a new overflow pipework, new external concrete drains, new roof beams and around 5000 square metres of roof re-sheeting.
No need to worry though, SA Water say the maintenance won’t impact on the water supply to Whyalla.
The works to the enormous tank form part of SA Water’s $89 million investment to upgrade over 100 water storages around South Australia.
The tank is expected to be back in action by September.
