Four boys and a girl all from Port Augusta have been arrested after a stolen car was involved in a petrol drive-off at Whyalla and break-in at Port Augusta on Wednesday.
A stolen white Toyota RAV4 containing two males was involved in a petrol theft from a Whyalla Stuart Service station, a short time later a police patrol spotted the stolen Toyota on the Eyre Highway near Port Augusta travelling at nearly 150km/h. The stolen car failed to stop but wasn't pursued by police for safety reasons.
The stolen car was located, abandoned in the middle of Harris Crescent shortly after.
Nearly 12 hours later, Port Augusta police were called to a home on Lethbridge Court following reports of a break-in. On arrival patrols were involved in a foot chase, arresting three male youths for the alleged break-in. Further enquiries revealed a fourth youth was involved and he too was arrested.
Two 17-year-old boys, a 14-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, have been charged with various offences.
