New Solar for Port Augusta

solar battery storage.JPGRenewables firm Pangea Energy and battery producer CellCube have signed an agreement to build a 50MW battery storage system alongside a 200MW solar farm in Port Augusta.  

Construction of the grid-scale battery is expected to begin before the end of the year, with plans to be operational in 2020.

The $290 million Pangea Storage project will sit across 79 hectares, it was initiated in 2016 and, after securing regulatory approvals, is on the later stages of predevelopment.

The announcement follows GFG alliance receiving government approval to begin construction of its 280MW Cultana Solar Farm near Whyalla.
