Business SA is calling for the State Government to fund the investigation into duplicating the Augusta Highway from Port Wakefield to Port Augusta.
The state’s peak business lobby has released its State Budget Wishlist and has outlined 17 priorities including tweaking the payroll tax to attract new companies to South Australia.
Business SA says dual lane access to South Australia’s most northern city will increasingly make sense and would provide benefits across the entire economy.
They say the State Government could also consider a staged approach to major regional infrastructure needs.
The RAA previously pledged to make the duplication of a 200km stretch from Port Wakefield to Port Augusta a federal election issue with the Civil Contractors Federation of SA calling the road the “Death Corridor”.
