Whyalla has been chosen to host a Local Government Association regional board meeting later this year.
The LGA meeting in July will draw mayors and senior council officials from throughout the state to Whyalla and the Eyre Peninsula.
Whyalla Mayor Clare McLaughlin used her positions with the LGA and Spencer Gulf Cities board to secure Whyalla as a venue for one of the two regional LGA meetings held each year.
The council has attributed her hard work to promote Whyalla as the reason the city is in the spotlight.
The July meeting will see 50 important local government officials and regional leaders converge on Whyalla.
The July board meeting will be hosted by LGA President, and Tumby Bay Mayor, Sam Telfer in the Whyalla Council Chamber on Darling Terrace.
