fishing (1).jpgA Yorke Peninsula fisherman has struck gold, discovering a pearl while collecting razorfish.

The Port Vincent resident was wading through shallow waters collecting the popular fish to pickle when he plucked the lucky clam.

Finding a pearl inside a Razor Fish is a rare occurrence, the shellfish embed themselves in the sand with their sharp edges sticking up, earning their name as razorfish.

For those wanting to try their luck the PIRSA reminds recreational fishers that the personal daily bag limit is 25 and the possession limit is 100 Razor Fish.

The Yorke Peninsula is home to abalone, razor fish, scallops and southern rock lobsters as well as the popular snapper, King George Whiting, Squid and Flathead.
