Work will begin in May on the project, which includes a 200MW array of 640,000 solar panels, on pastoral land near Robertstown.

The 5000ha development site is about half way between Burra and Morgan, and work will be completed in up to four stages.

50 jobs are set to be created during stage one’s two-year build, along with 45 permanent jobs including apprenticeships, traineeships and engineering and management roles.

The Solar River project aims to power 90,000 homes in its first stage and provide cheaper electricity for South Australians.

The first power is expected to be generated in 2020.

The 5000ha development site is about half way between Burra and Morgan, and work will be completed in up to four stages.

Solar River has also signed an agreement to fund the revegetation of sections of a 19,000ha private property near Morgan, creating a nature reserve as part of its environmental offset obligations.
