Crime rates on the Yorke Peninsula have increased over the past five years with Kadina and Moonta experiencing surges.
Statistics have shown crimes against person or property have increased by 65.5% in Kadina and 45% in Moonta.
Theft was noted as the most common offence in the area with the theft of motor vehicles jumping 33.3%.
Crime rates have fallen in some areas with Wallaroo’s falling 22% over the past five years.
Bute experienced a 40% decrease and Port Broughton fell 4.8%.
South Australia Police Mid North operations manager Phil Kotaras says any increase in crime in the Yorke Peninsula was off a small base and could be attributed to a population increase.
