Northbound overtaking lanes on the Augusta Highway near Mambray Creek have been temporarily closed for repairs as drivers warn against the hazardous stretch of road.
Drivers have spoken out about the overtaking lanes, labelling them as a hazard and warning other drivers to take care.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure says they are continuing to work closely with the contractor to monitor the condition of the overtaking lanes where defects have occurred to ensure the damages are rectified promptly.
The Department says until that time the lane will remain closed with traffic management and signage in place and they thank road users for their patience.
The affected lanes have been blocked off and speed limits have been reduced from 80 to 60km/h for the safety of motorists.
