ALDI Australia has confirmed the international supermarket chain will be setting up shop in Whyalla, creating 15 to 20 new full time and part time jobs in the city.
The supermarket chain has lodged a development application for the new store with the Whyalla City Council.
The supermarket is planned to be built behind the government offices situated on the corner of Nicolson Avenue and Ekblom Street.
Whyalla Mayor Clare McLaughlin says the application was another real sign the Whyalla economy was on the rise and a great development for the city and its residents.
She says having an international supermarket chain like ALDI applying to build a new shop in the city is another vote of confidence in city and the direction they are heading.
