Tennis Australia say they are still committed to bringing back the Port Pirie Tennis International in 2019.
The tournament hasn’t been held since 2016 when it celebrated it’s 25th anniversary.
The event was cancelled in 2017 due to issues with the court playing surfaces and did not make a return this year.
The Port Pirie and Districts Tennis Association spent $140,000 upgrading the courts to tournament standard in a move to guarantee the tournament’s return.
The tournament isn’t featured on the 2019 calendar but Tennis Australia say stakeholders have been engaged to finalise community engagement strategies and event documentation.
The organisation says discussions are moving in the right direction.
