A 34-year-old man from Port Augusta has been charged with theft after his alleged victim followed him and flagged down a passing police patrol.
It is alleged the man stole a bicycle tyre on Thursday evening.
Police were flagged down by the victim and then searched the accused where he was found to be in possession of jewellery and a knife.
Police are investigating into his possession of the jewellery.
The man has been charged with theft, unlawful possession and carrying an offensive weapon.
He was granted bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court in September.
