beach.jpgThe Department of Environment and Water has announced a funding pool of $350,000 that South Australian Councils can apply for as a part of coast protection efforts.

The grants could help address coastal erosion and flooding hazards by funding up to 80% of these projects around the region.

Last year many projects around the region received funding.

Port Augusta received $60,000 for the construction of the levee bank to deliver the city’s flood protection strategy.

$20,000 was awarded to Whyalla for beach replenishment to maintain storm erosion buffers and beach amenity.

And the Yorke Peninsula put together detailed designs of flood protection works with over $11,000 of funding.
