Port Augusta has received government approval for Stage two of its Renewable Energy Park with the financial close of stage 1 expected at the end of the year.
The project will see a solar and wind farm built south of Port Augusta will have up to 59 wind turbines and 1.6 million solar modules that will generate up to 375KW of electricity.
Stage two of the project will feature 500MW more solar and 400 MW of Battery storage.
Once stage 1 is complete it will be the largest hybrid power station in Australia.
Power generation would start after 14 months and the total build would take about 18 months for Stage One.
