A date has been set for the Whyalla City Council’s Safer Communities Forum with up to 40 community agencies invited to discuss safety issues in the city.
Representative will be present from the police, Council, youth workers, hospital, ambulance and community groups will give their input on the night.
The forum will be held on the 2nd of August after being proposed to the council by Councillor Tim Breuer at a recent meeting.
It fits in with the Council’s existing Stamp Out Vandalism and Crime campaign and the Stop, Care and Report campaign encouraging residents to report vandalism.
The Stamp Out Vandalism and Crime Campaign, that involves council workers and community members reporting all incidents of vandalism to the police, has resulted in $364,000 in Federal funding for lights and cameras in Civic Park.
