Whyalla City council is celebrating the national day of tree planting by offering free native shrubs to residents on Saturday the 28th of July.
The Council has been planting trees around the city, tidying up parks and reserves in the area.
500 plants will be coming from the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens in Port Augusta to be given out.
Council Staff will be providing information on the day on the plants and where best to plant them, there will also be hands on activities at the Library Carpark for kids.
In addition to the 500 plants for locals another 200 native plants will be given to schools in Whyalla.
