New wind farm means more jobs

wind farm.jpgA new Wind Farm, just West of Port Augusta has been cleared to start construction in November.
Nexif Energy who is behind it, has said its okay to start the first phase of the project, closing a $300 million deal to kick it off.
The 212 megawatt wind farm will be built about 15 kilometers West of Port Augusta and it’ll give power to more than 155,000 SA homes.
59 Senvion wind turbines will make up the farm, and room made to store 10MW grid scale batteries.

Nexif Energy Australia CEO Zeki Akbas says closing the deal means they can now focus on making the project a reality.

“Reaching financial close means work can soon start on the ground to bring this long-planned project to fruition,” Mr Akbas said.
“Nexif Energy has worked meticulously to develop a highly productive, innovative and practical renewable power model which is attractive to investors because of the real and sustainable benefits it will bring to customers and communities.”
In terms of a workforce, 130 new jobs will be available, and more than half of those will be pulled from SA.
CEFC wind sector lead Andrew Gardner says it’s a big deal for the region, and re-affirms SA’s position as a leader in renewable energy.
