Port Pirie's new waste policy gets off to a shaky start

waste.jpgPort Pirie council’s new waste policy has barely been around 5 months, but it’s already drawing some unwanted flak from locals.
Council released a statement in June saying that that the schedule of fees at the dump had changed, to distinguish between commercial and domestic users-setting a new commercial price at $65.
One local builder, who goes by the name of “BLUEY” JOHNSON, said the changes to the schedule-in particular the tip operation times, are starting to hurt local businesses.
But council’s Chief Executive Officer Dr ANDREW JOHNSON stood firm and defended the changes-saying that all it does, is reflects the true cost of providing the service.
