Days of Sunday football fixtures look to be numbered

afl ball.jpgSaturday-only-football-matches could be introduced as early as 2019, as the Spencer Gulf League thinks seriously about axing Sunday fixtures.
The Sunday games aren’t popular with travelling players and a number of clubs have proposed the change.
If it does go ahead, it’ll mean players won’t need to travel a fair distance to make their match, and miss out on time with their family on Sundays.
The end of Sunday games would mean that matches for Port Pirie would be shifted over to Memorial Oval and Port Oval on the Saturday.
League President Les Promnitz, says the league is seriously considering dropping Sunday games, regarding it as a strong probability.
