People visiting the beached whale carcasses on Parara Beach, Ardrossan are warned by officials not to go near them
Reports of people stealing valuable whale teeth and even seen standing on the dead mammals have sparked warnings from the Environment Department declaring those who go within 50m of the mammals could face a fine of up to $100,000
They also warn that whales may carry diseases and it is unknown if these are infectious to people.
Swimmers are also warned that the whale carcasses may also attract sharks.
The YP council are waiting on advice from experts whether to move the whales or allow them to decompose naturally.
