A woman has been found dead with serious injuries at a North Queensland boarding house.
Police went to the South Townsville property about 4.15am on Thursday after the woman's partner raised the alarm with a member of the public.
The woman, 36, was found injured in a room at the McIlwraith Street house. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say there were other assaults in the area overnight.
They have established a crime scene and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
Police would not reveal details of her injuries. They said her next of kin had not yet been notified.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
