A newborn Queensland baby is fighting for life after allegedly being assaulted by his father.
The seven-week-old boy remains in a critical condition after suffering broken ribs and other unspecified serious injuries last week.
He was taken to hospital on the Sunshine Coast before being transported to the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane.
The boy remained at the hospital on Sunday.
His 26-year-old father was on Saturday denied bail after being charged with grievous bodily harm.
The Brisbane Magistrates Court heard he could face a murder charge if the boy dies.
The man said the injuries were suffered accidentally, but prosecutors believe his account is inconsistent with the boy's injuries.
He was remanded to next appear in court on September 16.
