Lidcombe woman charged over fatal hit-run

A Lidcombe woman has been charged after she allegedly failed to stop and help a cyclist she fatally struck in Sydney's west.

The woman had been on the run since she allegedly hit the rider in the backstreets of Lidcombe shortly before 5pm on Tuesday.

The cyclist, a 66-year-old Neutral Bay man, died at the scene.

Police on Wednesday doorknocked homes in the area hoping to find CCTV or witnesses.

"It's very callous," Inspector Katie Orr told reporters on Thursday.

"Just to think that the person didn't stop and render any aid to that person is very distressing to all involved."

Just before 3.30pm on Friday, a 47-year-old woman was arrested after she turned up at Auburn Police Station.

She has been charged with fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death, dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning death).

The Lidcombe woman was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
