An armed man wanted over firearm and vehicle theft offences in Tasmania has been arrested after a police chase that ended with his capture in bushland.
The 25-year-old from Longford near Launceston, fired a gun into a Longford address early on Saturday, police said.
He was also allegedly behind a series of offences in the area over a number of weeks, including vehicle theft and firearm-related crimes.
Police said the man failed to stop for officers while driving a stolen vehicle just outside Longford on Saturday night.
Police used road spikes to stop the car and the fugitive was found in bushland off the Northern Midlands Highway north of Epping Forest, allegedly with a .22 rifle.
He will appear in court in Launceston on Sunday charged with 34 offences.
