Police shut down Melbourne park party

Pepper spray and the dog squad were called in to break up a wild party of about 300 people at an inner-Melbourne park.

Police were called to the Westgate Park over a noise complaint about 1.30am on Sunday and arrived to find amplifiers and DJs playing music for the rabble.

Officers pepper sprayed three people who ran away, a 20-year-old Wangaratta woman was taken to hospital after being hit on the head with a bottle and the 21-year-old Northcote man who organised the party was spoken to and released pending inquiries.
