Vic police officers injured, man charged

A man has been charged over the alleged assault of two police officers on a Melbourne street.

The 26-year-old is said to have approached two male officers who were speaking to another man on Victoria Street at Richmond about 2pm on Saturday.

Without warning, he then allegedly started punching the officers.

Capsicum spray was deployed and the policemen suffered cuts and bruises.

The man, whio is from Tarneit, was not injured and has been charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, obstructing police and resisting arrest.

He has been bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates Court on November 14.

Police would like to speak to the unknown man the two officers had been talking to.
